what it means to be diagnosed with an ovarian adnexal mass

Many ovarian adnexal masses are small, simple cystic masses that resolve spontaneously. However, some can be ovarian cancers that require immediate attention. OVA1™ is the first and only blood test cleared by the FDA to help a physician evaluate the likelihood that an ovarian adnexal mass is malignant or benign prior to a planned surgery. If you have been diagnosed with an ovarian adnexal mass, ask your physician if an OVA1 test will be used to better determine your treatment.

How does OVA1 work

Only one-third of women who undergo surgery for possible ovarian cancer are referred to gynecologic oncologists for their surgery1. However, leading medical associations, including the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, recommend that women with an ovarian adnexal mass suspicious for cancer be referred to a gynecologic oncologist for surgery.
