Using OvaCalc, Vermilion's FDA cleared software device, OVA1 evaluates five biomarkers found in the blood and combines the results into a single score between 0 and 10.  Scores equal or greater than the established thresholds (pre-menopausal 5.0 or post-menopausal 4.4) indicate a higher probability of malignancy.  Below are the established OVA1 thresholds.       

Patients with a high probability of malignancy may benefit from being referred to a specialist such as a gynecologic oncologist for their treatment.
